At Lighthouse Family Church, Urmston, our beliefs are rooted in the timeless truths of Scripture. We hold to the historic Christian faith that has been passed down through generations, believing that these truths are as relevant today as they were two thousand years ago.
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is our guide for faith and daily living, containing all we need for salvation and godly living. We believe Scripture is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness.
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal, having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections. Together they are the one true God worthy of our worship and praise.
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory. Jesus is the only way to salvation and eternal life.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. The Holy Spirit empowers believers for service, guides us into truth, convicts of sin, and produces fruit in our lives that glorifies God.
We believe that salvation is a gift of grace from God, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not earned by good works but is freely given to all who believe. Those who receive Christ are born again, becoming children of God with the promise of eternal life.
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, composed of all believers. The local church is a community of baptized believers associated together for worship, fellowship, spiritual growth, and the spread of the Gospel. We are called to love one another as Christ loved us.
We believe in the power of prayer as a vital expression of faith and our direct line of communication with God. Through prayer, we worship, give thanks, confess, intercede, and seek God's will. Prayer is essential to the Christian life and the work of the Church.
We believe in the blessed hope—the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ to earth in glory. He will judge the living and the dead and establish His eternal kingdom. This hope motivates us to live holy lives and share the Gospel with urgency.
"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."
— Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
